Eileen JeanGARDINERJuly 1942 - March 2025 We are grateful for her wonderfully generous and giving life well lived. Mark, Cathy, Thomas, Suzie and Eileen's family would like to express their sincere thanks to all those who attended the celebration of Eileen's life on 30th May 2025. A special thank you for all the wonderful messages of sympathy and support received and for the generous donations given for St Margaret's Somerset Hospice and Shapwick & Polden Cricket Club. Our personal gratitude to Michael & Scobie Tidball for their heartfelt eulogy and also to Eileen's four nephews Steve Stamp, Jody & Jamie Tidball & Greig Nicholls who were pallbearers on the day. Mark would especially like to give thanks to Eileen's care team who showed priceless friendship, support and kindness to Eileen during the last four years of her life. Their professionalism, empathy and love towards her was tangible, even from afar where he lives in France, and personally thanks the following people with all his heart; her friend Molly Wilkins, Safe & Sound Homecare Services (Street) Karen, Marianne, Sarah, Jasmine, Louise, Lynette, Teresa and Lucy. Eileen was a very warm and generous person who left an indelible impression upon everyone she met throughout her life. She lives on in the words of this poem, that encapsulates who Eileen was and what she meant to her family and friends. Eileen Gaelic meaning "The Precious Little Bird" by Mark Gardiner with love from Dave, Scott, Cathy, Tom & Suzie.

To Mum, so kind, so full of grace, A joyful light in any space. With caring hands and heartfelt pride, Our calm, our strength, our family guide.

So bright, so fun, in colours bold, In your poppy red, for us to hold. Your gentle voice, always sincere, Was always the first to volunteer.

Your stable home, the place to meet, Your open arms and your tap-dance feet. So kind and friendly, forgiving too, You trusted everyone, that you knew.

You made time, through thick and thin, and wanted the best for all your kin. A wife, an auntie, sister, friend, A listening ear, you'd always lend.

Your favourite drink, your cup of tea, So what on earth did you think of me? "Can't just pop by", was my one regret When I left home and Somerset

Then I moved away from English shores, And because my life, was far from yours, We spoke most days, and sometimes twice, Your gift to me, was your sound advice.

Then our "Nanny England", full of fun, You shone as bright as morning sun. Our confidante, so full of cheer, Your love, will always, still be here.

My darling mum, what more to say, We miss you more, than words portray. Rest easy now, be on your way, And forever in, our hearts you'll stay.
